Notes from the Midnight Driver by Jordan Sonnenblick

The story is about a 16-year-old boy named Alex. His parents had separated, because his dad is now dating his third grade teacher. Alex is in high school, and wants revenge. Alex also has a problem with drunk driving.

Alex decided to stupidly take a drive to his dad's house. Being drunk, he was driving very terrible and careless. Alex now has to do community service, and spend time, with a senior citizen named Solomon Lewis. Will Alex get along with him? do they have something in common?
